Interview with Ben Barnes, Democrat, Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives (1964-1968), and Lieutenant Governor (1968-1972). Barnes shares his experiences and personal views as a member of the Sixty-first Legislature and he also discusses the one-year versus two-year budget, the creation of new four-year colleges, the influence of the beer and liquor lobby, sales tax exemptions, Speaker Gus Mutscher, revenue legislation, annual legislative sessions, and his future political ambitions.
